 Activities

In November of 1967, Alpha Company, 7th Engineers was reinforced with personnel from other units within the battalion, including Bravo Company.  I don't recall how many platoons were involved but approximately 100 of us were sent to the DMZ in anticipation of increased enemy activity in that area. But apparently this was a design by the North Vietnamese to weaken the southern units for the TET offensive.  At any rate, we loaded into trucks and were transported uneventfully thru the Hy Van Pass to Dong Ha. We spent the next couple of months installing concertina wire and mine fields around the firebases at Con Tien and Gio Linh. We returned to the Danang area in late January of 68.  Below are some photos taken along the DMZ.  Also there is link to citations awarded to Alpha company for it's support of Bravo company at Hill 34.
