Corporal Alfred Simpson, "B" Co. 7th Engineers, was killed by enemy action on Aug. 9, 1967.
Al was enlisted in Gardena, CA. and 34 years old at the time of his death.
Corporal Simpson is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Panel 24E, Row 97.

Al was killed by a sniper on the 9th of Aug. 1967, I remember it well as it was my birthday. Al was older than most of the men in the platoon as he had come back into the Corps after leaving to become a police officer. He had previously served in Korea and was originally from Cornwall on the Hudson, N.Y. There is a memorial for him there and it is believed that he has a sister in that area. I keep a rubbing of his name at my hunting camp and think of him everyday.  [Pete Conley]

==================

Al Simpson was my uncle. We called him Uncle Pete. Whenever he came home he visited us. I
was only five or six when he was around a lot. I always thought he was so "cool." He was always
 good with my brother and I, and let me sit in his lap as we drove around town in his Chevy SS.
 Thanks for remembering him and giving us a photo of him.

Note: He's buried in Roscoe, New York next to his brothers who served in WWII.
